Amy is a South Dakota native living in Los Angeles. Her very first 10-minute play, Brain Damage, was produced at Riverside Theatre in Iowa City, IA (May 1994). She graduated from the University of Iowa’s undergraduate theater department where she worked with writing mentors, John O'Keefe and Art Borreca.
After Iowa, she continued to write plays while studying acting at the William Esper Studio in NYC. She received an Arts Alliance Grant for development and production of her one-woman show CATRIX. Amy’s plays and other solo pieces have been produced in the Midwest, New York, Mississippi and Los Angeles.
She is currently pursuing her MFA in Writing for Performance at the California Institute of the Arts (CALARTS).

Fierce Backbone is a Los Angeles-based collaborative organization committed to writing, developing and producing new dramatic works. Amy is a Founding Member of Fierce Backbone.
